On this day in history (February 28, 1986), the soundtrack to the motion picture Pretty In Pink was released. This is generally considered to be one of the greatest soundtracks of all times. Like most John Hughes movies, the soundtrack consisted primarily of brand new new wave music.

The single, Lonely Dancer, from the EP was just released this week and features the Berlin based vocalist Anika. Lonely Dancer has a super-chill vibe with a Beth Orton style vocal from Anika.

The sleeve for the album was designed by Morrissey and features American actor Joe Dallesandro in a cropped still from Andy Warhol’s 1968 film Flesh.
