New Album
As first reported by NME, The Cure have finished recording their 14th studio album. The album is still untitled and no release date has been given yet. Robert Smith says this of the recording:
We’re still doing this for the right reasons. Because it’s us dong it, it sounds us.

Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame
The Cure will be inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame on March 29, joining Radiohead, Roxy Music and Stevie Nicks. While the Hall of Fame has not confirmed any performances yet, Cleveland.com feels that it’s likely that The Cure will be performing. Former drummer-keyboardist Lol Tolhurst says:
It’s gonna sound strange. Last year I was on the road for the whole year with my book and I met so many Cure fans and so many people that the music had affected. It felt like the perfect circle. It had come to the point where I didn’t assume it was going to happen, but I sort of knew. I had a precognition that it was going to happen. It was just like, “Oh, yeah. That’s cool.” I just felt very grateful in that moment, I think.
Tolhurst has said that he will definitely attend the ceremony and says this about the opportunity for all of the band members (current and former) to play together:
I don’t know. I’m sure I’ll hear from Robert sooner or later about that. If we do, we do. If we don’t, I’ll be happy to sit there and watch what’s going on.
