On this day in history (January 30, 1989), New Order released their 5th studio album Technique featuring the singles Fine TIme, Round And Round and Run. This was the bands first album to reach #1 on the UK charts. This album had heavy electronic and house influences, which were a struggle at the time for Peter Hook who had this to say, in a joking manner:
The album was an epic power struggle between the sequencers and me. I was resisting it valiantly, because I still wanted us to be a rock band.
In addition to the singles, this album is known for it’s amazing album tracks. If you survey 10 people for their favorite track on the album, you might get 6-7 different answers.
