New Order is having a contest where you can win vinyl signed by the members of the band. Bernard, Gillian, Peter and Stephen will each be signing the upcoming 12″ vinyl single releases.
Ex-New Order bass player, Peter Hook, auctioned of a variety of memorabilia at an auction this past week. In this auction, Hook has originally intended on selling letters between Ian Curtis and his former girlfriend Annik Honoré. Just prior to the event, he changed his mind and withdrew the submissions. Members of New Order were not happy about this decision and we quite pleased that Hook ultimately changed his mind.
New Order is joining the wave of bands using streaming media to come up with new ways to deliver content to their fans. The band has announced a YouTube series called Transmissions which will chronicle the transition of Joy Division to New Order, resulting in the story of New Orders first album Movement.
The England/Canada electro duo have enlisted the help of New Order’s Gillian Gilbert on their brand new single, Lifetime. They are known for remixing other artists including INXS, Erasure and Mick Jagger but this time they are being remixed by others on an EP that contains 4 different mixes of Lifetime.

There will be a different theme each week and for the first installment, I decided to go with a simple Alternative Classics theme that focuses on three of the most iconic covers of all time.
This mix features brand new music from legendary 80s new wave artists. All of these songs have been released after 2010. Many of these songs are as good, if not better, then the artists original work from the 80’s. It’s great to see that these bands that we grew up with are still making relevant music today.
