DetailsOne of the marquee songs from The Verve (and of the Brit Pop era in general), Bitter Sweet Symphony, is a song with legal controversy. It was determined that the song was based on the Rolling Stones song The Last Time. The Verve had originally received permission to sample the song but were sued by the Rolling Stones manager claiming that they used more of the song than was agreed upon.

DetailsNoel Gallegher’s High Flying Birds will be releasing an EP called Black Star Dancing on June 14. The first single is the title track and it combines elements of David Bowie, INXS and Duran Duran for a fun dance floor gem of a track.
DetailsTrainspotting writer Irvine Welsh, director Danny Boyle and actor Ewen Bremmer, who played Spud in the Trainspotting films, will reunite for a film based on Creation Records.
DetailsThe London Suede frontman, Brett Anderson, has announced a new book called Afternoon With The Blind Drawn which is scheduled to be released on October 1, 2019.
DetailsThe Smashing Pumpkins have announced that they will be touring North America this summer along with Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds. AFI will also be joining them on the tour.
DetailsFollowing up from his groudbreaking album, Call The Comet, The Smiths guitar ace Johnny Marr has released a new single and video called Armatopia. This single is released just days after Marr announced a series of North American tour dates.
DetailsBritpop icons Stereophonics have release a new single to hold us over until they finish recording their new album. The track Chaos From The Top Down tells a story from a perspective of a 15 year old boy who has been shot, and is left laying in the road to reflect on his life as he is dying. The lyrics are based on a true story that happened outside of the home of lead singer, Kelly Jones. The song forces us to see troubled youth as more than just a victim. But rather, children who had ambition, hopes and dreams…just like everyone else.
DetailsThe first single from the legendary bands new album, Chaosmosis, takes the band in a new direction. The song takes on a dancey electronica vibe which reminds me of a cross between Miami Horror and Kasabian – indietronica groove mixed with an upbeat banger! Sky Ferreira joins the boys on vocals on this single.
DetailsThe remix by Modular adds synthy overtones and backbeats to the track (I went back and found the original was pretty damn good in its own right). Cort’s smooth vocals evoke memories of Tim Burgess (The Charlatans UK) and Bobby Gillespie (Primal Scream)
DetailsThe melodic and infectious 2nd single, I Wanna Get Lost With You is from the forthcoming record, Keep The Village Alive. The single is a great sign of things to come as Kelly and Co have always had an arsenal of rockers as well as mid-tempo ballads but Jones has a tendency to stretch that unique voice of his at times. Here, he finds the perfect middle ground with guitars just punchy enough to make the song anthemic.
