ast night was the 4th annual Release Athens festival in Athens, Greece. The festival featured performances from Iggy Pop, New Order, James, Johnny Marr, Morcheeba, Hooverphonic, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and more. During Johnny Marr’s performance, he invited Bernard Sumner on stage to join him for a reunion of their classic Electronic song Get The Message.
Peter Murphy will be appearing in a residency in Manhattan’s Greenwich Village at (le) poisson rouge throughout the month of August. There will be 11 historic shows, each one featuring performances from a different studio album performed in it’s entirety.
Uknown Pleasures ReImagined is a new project where 10 acclaimed directors will create brand new music videos for every track off of Unknown Pleasures. This is in celebration of the albums 40th anniversary.

While The Cure is just finishing off their Disintegration stint in Australia, it was announced that a film titled “The Cure Anniversary – 1978-2018 – Live In Hyde Park London” will be shown in theaters around the world on July 11
The much anticipated 30th Anniversary Disintegration tour made it’s start with a 4 day run at the Sydney Opera House in Australia. The show was a treat for all hard core fans of The Cure. Not only did they get to hear Disintegration in it’s entirety, but The Cure surprised the crowd with an encore of b-sides and rarities, playing all of the b-sides from the Disintegration era.
One of the marquee songs from The Verve (and of the Brit Pop era in general), Bitter Sweet Symphony, is a song with legal controversy. It was determined that the song was based on the Rolling Stones song The Last Time. The Verve had originally received permission to sample the song but were sued by the Rolling Stones manager claiming that they used more of the song than was agreed upon.
