The first single from the legendary bands new album, Chaosmosis, takes the band in a new direction. The song takes on a dancey electronica vibe which reminds me of a cross between Miami Horror and Kasabian – indietronica groove mixed with an upbeat banger! Sky Ferreira joins the boys on vocals on this single.
Brand new synthpop from the London band that sounds like what you would get if you merged the sounds from a John Hughes soundtrack and the Drive soundtrack.
Brand new synthpop from the Sheffield duo.
The indie rock bank Bloc Party has released their 5th studio album titled Hymns. This follows last years solo record Trick from their front man Kele.
The first single The Love Within is an elcetro club banger and a great way to start off the record, which features a nice balance of indie rock tunes along with some more synth-based gems. The standout track for me is Fortress which is a hot sexy number reminiscent of Kele’s solo work.
This mix contains a collection of some of my favorite remixes including modern takes on classic 80s songs plus remixes of newer songs and artists. Some of my favorite mixers are on here including Dominatrix, Arthur Baker, Marsheaux and more. This is a mostly high energy mix and one that’s good to listen to when getting ready to go out for the evening.
This is Volume 3 of one of my favorite genre’s of music – music inspired by the sounds of the Drive Soundtrack. This mix features new releases that I feel would have fit perfectly on the soundtrack.
What is a Slobberknocker? It’s a song that gets you off your ass, bopping up and down, and possible singing at the top of your lungs. It’s a song that sets you in a frenzy on the dance floor for no apparent reason. It’s fun, it’s high energy and these are some of my favorite Slobberknockers.
New order release their first single ‘Restless’ off their upcoming album, Music Complete out September 25th on Mute.
Spotify has introduced a new featured called “Discover Weekly” that is aimed at providing you with a weekly mixtape of music based on your music preferences. You will find the appropriately named playlist “Discover Weekly” at the top of your playlist hierarchy. My initial impression of this feature is very positive. The first 3-4 songs were bands that I have never heard of, but ones that fit in perfectly with the type of music that I listen to
Chvrches has announced the initial details of the sophomore album called Every Open Eye. It is scheduled to be released on September 25th. The first single is called Leave A Trace and you can get your first listen right here.
Spotify release 1.0.9 continues in it’s attempt to make the product more usable. They are succeeding in adding in little niceties here and there, but at the same time have not offered anything truly innovative in a while. This release adds some aesthetic and usability features, but hasn’t put a huge dent in the list of features that the user base has been clamoring for.
It’s becoming quite popular to cover Billy Idol’s “Eyes Without A Face” these days, and I’m quite OK with that. The Irish duo Electro Sensitive Behavior have given this track the synthpop treatment. While it sounds true to the original recording, the additional synths combined with a Lou Reed meets Peter Murphy vocal make this cover a keeper.
