DJ Mikey is the creator of Strangeways Radio and the host of the Halcyon Waves podcast. He specializes in the synthpop genre with a focus on the latest music. Mikey also likes to DJ in live venues as well as produce occasional Mixcloud DJ Mixes to share with his friends and followers.
Boniface is a synth project from Winnipeg singer Micah Visser. His debut self titled album was just released this week and it’s filled with infectious electronic/pop songs, mostly upbeat in nature. Boniface makes it easy to see what they are all about, as there are a handful of videos to accompany the album singles.

Desire is an electronic band on the Italians Do It Better label featuring singer Megan Louise and the label staple Johnny Jewel. The band is best known for their infectious track “Under Your Spell” which I like to refer to as the Forever Ever song. Those fortunate enough to see Chromatics on tour last year were treated to Desire as a warm up act. They performed a version of New Order’s Bizarre Love Triangle during that tour and now, the band has released an official recording as a single
On this day in history (February 15, 2000), The Cure released their 11th studio album Bloodflowers. While there were no commercial singles off this album, Out Of This World and Maybe Someday were released as promotional singles to radio stations.
The Seattle based synth band Jupe Jupe just released a new single that will take you right back to the glory days of the 80s. Mix a swanky video, the synth sounds of Depeche Mode or Camouflage and an INXS style saxophone and you get this – How Can We Both Be In Love. This track is off the forthcoming Nightfall EP, scheduled to be released on February 28.
A one-day concert festival has been scheduled for May 2 in Los Angeles featuring a who’s who of 80’s new wave and post punk artists. Tickets go on sale this Friday and details can be found on the Cruelworldfest.com website.
