On this day in history (March 24, 1986), Pet Shop Boys released their debut album Please featuring the singles West End Girls, Love Comes Quickly, Opportunities and Suburbia. The title of the album was chosen so that people would to into a record store and say “Can I have the Pet Shop Boys album, ‘Please’?” The lyrics on the album are intentionally androgynous containing stories that would be equally applicable to and type of relationship.
