In celebration of the anniversary of the Pretty In Pink soundtrack, Strangeways Radio is conducting a poll to see what your favorite 80’s soundtrack is. Obviously, we expect Pretty In Pink to score very highly but we want to see what other great soundtracks you come up with.
The results are in and How Soon Is Now from The Smiths has defeated New Order’s 1963 in the final game. While people don’t typically think of the song as a B-side, it was in fact featured as such before making it’s first album appearance.
This is the final game in the Best of the B-sides tournament. There were a few surprises on the way here. Depeche Mode’s Sea Of Sin was a favorite to make the Final Four. Additionally, The Cure had the most songs represented in the tournament yet none of them made the final. The tournament is also not without controversy. How Soon Is Now is generally considered to be an album track. However, before it appeared on Hatful Of Hollow and Meat Is Murder, it was a B-side to the single William It Was Really Nothing.
