New 80 track CD & booklet – Electrical Language: Independent British Synthpop 78-84

Cherry Red Records is putting out a 4CD 80 track set that celebrates the independent side of the UK’s post punk synthpop boom that took place between 1978 and 1984. The collection is called Electrical Language and it also comes with a booklet featuring the sleeve notes from many of the recordings and words from the artists themselves. The collection includes several household names such as OMD, The Normal , Human League, Thomas Dolby and Fad Gadget in addition to underground artists from the era.

Modern Synth Compilation – Losing Touch

This weeks compilations feature the latest new releases in modern synthpop. This features the latest from 80’s staples Howard Jones and Blancmange. Plus, new releases from modern favorites TR/ST, Tamaryn and Maps. There are plenty of new bands to check out as well. If you haven’t heard Roosevelt, do yourself a favor and give them a listen. The husband/wife Kennniff duo, otherwise known as Mint Julep, have release a cover of Talk Talk’s It’s My Life to pay homage to the late Mark Hollis, who passed away earlier this week due to illness. The cover is a beautifully arranged synth down tempo version that stays true to the sound of the original song, while offering enough differences to endear it to listeners.
