Strangeways has opened its vault to take a look at one of the first songs released by The Smiths. Reel Around The Fountain is the first track on The Smiths debut self-titled album and to this day still remains a favorite of many fans.
Like most things Morrissey related, this song comes with lots of discussion and controversy. The songs opens up with the line It’s Time The Tale Were Told, and by the songs end you will inevitably find yourself wondering what it’s all about, and then you may come to realize that the tale has still not been told.

So…ya never know, but in any effect a reunion from The Smiths is on many a music fan’s wishlist and at least one website says, relations may be thawing and reunion COULD be on the way?

Smiths fans unite! Your favorite band is now the subject of a new indie film. Shoplifters of the World takes place on the day that broke our hearts, the day that The Smiths called it quits in 1987. The story, inspired by real events deals with a ‘fan’ who storms a heavy metal radio station and holds the DJ at gunpoint, demanding 24 hours of Smiths music.
Surprisingly, the film makers have secured rights to 20 Smiths songs for the film by Stones In Exile director, Stephen Kijak. Amongst the cast thus far are Jessica Brown Findlay (Downtown Abbey, Misfits), James Frecheville (Animal Kingdom), Jeremy Allen White (Shameless), Thomas Brodie Sangster (Love Actually, Phineas and Ferb), Skylar Astin, Zosia Mamet (The Kids Are All Right, Parenthood, Mad Men and United States of Tara) and Will Poulter (The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, The Son Of Rambow. Screenwriter, Director, Producer John Hughes has over 30 films to his credit and had his biggest success when branching out to the family-friendly, Home Alone in 1990. As of 2009, Home Alone was the highest grossing comedy of all time. However, this is not his legacy. Hughes is best-known and most beloved for his 1980′s teen output. Hughes seemed to have his finger on the pulse of the American Teen unlike any film maker before him. His ‘Brat Pack’ of actors in these films, and his use of pop music in them are lasting icons, forever emblazened in the hearts and minds of today’s 30-40 somethings.
