Sigor Rós is doing a great job building up the anticipation for their new album Kveikur. They are pleasing fans world wide with their 2013 tour, and today they just released the second video for a song off of the forthcoming album. The video is for a track called Ísjaki and it even includes lyrics for those of you who like to…ya know…sing along.

A couple of days ago, we posted the epic video for Sigur Rós’ Brennistein. The track precedes their forthcoming LP, Kveikur which is set for release on June 17. On Friday, they performed on Jimmy Fallon, their first television performance in a decade. They played the title track from the new record.
All of this is in preparation for a massive world tour, kicking off this week. Check out the Fallon performance after the tour dates.

Sigur Rós has released the first full-length video off of their new albim Kveikur for the track Brennistein. The video was directed by Andrew Huang and this marks the first song from the band as a trio. Kveikur is scheduled to be released on June 17th. In anticipation of this release, Sigur Rós will launch their US tour this week which includes a performance at Madison Square Gardens.

The Sasquatch! Music Festival, a yearly Washington State Memorial Day weekend tradition, has announced its 2013 lineup and it looks like Indie Heaven. A reunited The Postal Service are on board along with Sigur Ros, Bloc Party, The XX, Twin Shadow, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, DIIV, Chrvches, Porcelain Raft, Tame Impala, Toro Y Moi, Grimes and tons and tons more with comedians Mike Birbiglia and Nick Offerman also on hand.

The long rumored documentary film, Beautiful Noise may finally see the light of day…and you can help make it happen! As is often the case these days, the project is seeking to raise funds through a Kickstarter campaign.
The film which is 8 years in the making, will feature over 50 interviews, band members, music icons and tastemakers discussing influential 80’s and 90’s guitar bands who harnessed massively loud sounds using a sea of effects pedals and delivered some of the most BEAUTIFUL NOISE ever recorded; like Cocteau Twins, The Jesus and Mary Chain, and My Bloody Valentine, their unique and singular sounds inspired generations of bands. Sigur Rós has just announced their return to North America with what promises to be their most expansive live experience to date. The tour will include all of the brass and string sections that they featured in the summer festival tours incorporated into a completely new show. It will also feature performances of brand new post-Valtari material.
Sigur Rós has increased the value proposition of purchasing a ticket by including a digital copy of a 3-track EP containing new and unreleased music for each ticket holder.

Sigur Rós has announced the first headline tour since 2008, following their recent run of summer festivals. The tour includes 13 UK and Europe dates in February/March of 2013. This time around, the band will add additional players along with an expanded brass and string section. The band promises that this leg of the tour will be different than the summer festival performances, including brand new material which post dates this year’s Valtari album.

Iceland’s Sigur Rós will be following up the release of their 6th studio album, with a brief North American tour. Valtari, to be released on May 29 will be their first new album in 4 years, following 2008′s Með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust. Lead single, Ekki mukk is out now.

Sigor Ros has just announced the thrilling news that they are set to release a new album called Valtari on May 28th. Valteri translated to “steamroller” in English. They have reported that the album will be more electronic based, but still embrace their ever-so-dreamy sound that we have all come to love. Singer Jónsi has described the album as “an avalanche in slow motion”.

With the recent success of his solo record, Go, the ensuing tour and the soundtrack to Cameron Crowe’s We Built A Zoo, much of Jónsi’s focus has been on his solo career. Although, Sigur Rós released the live DVD/CD inni, in 2011, they have not actually toured as a band in over three years.
It looks like that is about to change. Sigur Rós will play Bestival on the Isle of Wight September 9 alongside artists like The XX, Orbital, Spiritualized, Gary Numan, The Horrors, Hot Chip, Adam Ant and tons more.
Although this is to be their only UK date, the band has promised that more tour dates for 2012 will be announced soon.
