One of the most popular ways in which new listeners find the Strangeways Radio website is by doing Google searches on “Trip Hop” or “Best Trip Hop songs”. We thought that it would be cool to reward those newcomers with a mix of some of our favorite trip hop songs. We have create a 2 hour mix for your listening pleasure. There are so many brilliant songs to choose from, but we settled on 32 songs featuring trip hop icons such as Hooverphonic, Lamb, Esthero, Massive Attack, Tricky, and many more. We feel that trip hop is such an under-appreciated genre and we want to help keep this music alive.

Last December we wrote about a remix competition for Lamb’s latest single, Butterfly Effect. A winner has not yet been chosen but the trip-hop community has already benefited from this contest. Producers Karl Grunder and Ghost Dust met each other during this contest and teamed up to form a new trip-hop/dark electronica/glitch band called The Ghost And Me.
The dubstep singer Trubble contributes vocals to several tracks on the debut EP – The Little Treehouse On The Moon. Given the nature of how this band was formed, it’s appropriate that the vocals on some of these tracks (especially Anymore) resemble the sweetness and purity of Lou Rhode’s vox.

Earlier this year, trip-hop legends Lamb released their fifth studio album appropriately titled ’5′. The album was followed up with a world-wide tour which continues on in Europe through April, 2012. Lamb’s first three videos off the album were ‘Build A Fire’, ‘She Walks’ and ‘Another Language’.
With Lamb’s latest single, Butterfly Effect, Lamb has created a new twist. They have launched a remix contest where the winning remix will be featured on the Butterfly Effect EP to be released in 2012.
