One of the earliest leaders of Post-Punk, Section 25 made their Factory Records debut in 1980 with the single Girls Don’t Count, produced by Ian Curtis and Joy Division/New Order manager Rob Gretton. They had their biggest hit in 1984 when they turned to a more Synthpop sound with the inclusion of Angela and Jennifer Cassidy on the Bernard Sumner produced Looking From A Hilltop released on the From The Hip LP.
Led by Larry Cassidy and his wife Jenny, along with his brother Vin and Joanna Cassidy. The band soldiered on past the death of Jenny in 2004 and leader Larry in 2010. In 2011, with the inclusion of Larry and Jenny’s daughter Bethany on vocals, Section 25 released the download only Invicta EP, featuring the sublime single Colour, Movement, Sex & Violence which graced several Strangeways Best of 2011 lists.

They toured in support of Joy Division, the Talking Heads and New Order, but never reached the same level of popularity (although they can be seen featured in the movie 24 Hour Party People). 30 years later ACR have reunited and started playing festivals and one off dates in the UK.
