The music world suffered a loss yesterday when Adam Yauch, aka MCA from the Beastie Boys, lost his battle with cancer. Our friends at Slicing Up Eyeballs have provided a lovely write up of Adam, including reactions from fellow musicians in the industry. Brit pop artists Coldplay provided a tribute of their own. What better way to show your respects to an artist than to do it in song. Coldplay took the stage at the Hollywood Bowl in California friday night and performed a cover of Fight For The Right To Party. Enjoy this stripped down piano performance from Coldplay while you take a trip down memory lane and remember partying to the Beastie Boys music back in the day!

Morton Harket, the former frontman for Norwegian Synthpop band A-ha has just released the video for Scared Of Heights, the first single from his new record, Out Of My Hands. The new LP, to be released April 13 will be his 5th as a solo artist.
For those who consider A-ha to be an 80s one-hit-wonder, consider this…A-ha has 9 studio records to their name, which have sold over 26 million, even in 2010 they were one of the 50 largest grossing touring acts and own a Guiness World Record for largest paying audience to a pop concert; 198,000 at Maracanã in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Their music has influenced a generation of artists including Coldplay and Keane. A-ha ended a 25-year run with a massive World Tour.

Still riding the wave of success, following the release of their 5th album Mylo Xyloto, Coldplay have announced a massive North American tour that will see the band on the road from April-August.
MYlo Xyloto, released on October 24 debuted at number 1 in the US and UK, setting records for one week digital sales. On the strength of singles like Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall and Paradise, the album has already sold 2.3 Million copies worldwide.
