Don’t Panic! It’s Duran Duran! (Concert review and Girl Panic)

Midnight, on a brisk October evening in New York City, the back gates of Madison Square Garden are congested with dozens of fans clutching their memorabilia and all watching a black SUV pull into the loading garage at the back of the venue. Security guards try to control the fans, telling some of them to get out of the street as they are actually blocking traffic. Excited squeals can be heard. Guys are losing their girlfriends in the shuffle. One girl breaks through the barrier and rushes to the SUV only to be grabbed by security and escorted back, giggling all the way.

This is not a Justin Bieber show. This is Duran Duran…. and, this is not 1984.

Mozipedia

Book Review: Mozipedia: The encyclopedia of Morrissey and The Smiths

If you are a Smiths or Morrissey fan and can read, there shouldn’t even be a question of whether or not you need this book. It is simply a treasure trove of wonderful bits of trivia and short anecdotes. One of the most enigmatic figures in Pop Culture history is seen in a little bit more color here. It is Morrissey’s own skewed version of Pop Culture that shapes much of his archaic lyricism.

Goddard’s Mozipedia is written in Encyclopedia format, with alphabetic entries for every Smiths/Morrissey single, album, album track, B-side, cover version, live demo, former band member, hometown and just about everything else you could think of.
