Dead Leaf Echo is a NYC band consisting of members Ana Breton (Guitar, Keys, Vox), Christo Buffam. (Guitar, Keys), LG Galleon (Guitar, Bass, Vox) and J.M. Silverman (Drums). DLE began as an art project, eventually blossoming into more in 2006. The band has matured rapidly and released numerous EPs, singles and remixes in addition to creating a collection of experimental film videos unveiling their unique style of Nouveau Wave. Their sound is often described as dark dream pop swirled with new wave and grounded in shoegaze.
Dead Leaf Echo’s 1st EP, Pale Fire, was released in March 2008 on Year of the Gallon Records. The EP’s title track, “Pale Fire”, was mixed by Ulrich Schnauss. A 7 inch single entitled Half-Truth was released in 2010 on Custom Made Music. They released their 2nd EP, Truth, in October 2010 on 2&1 Records. DLE released their 3rd EP, Verisimilitude, in May 2011. The EP featured remixes and collaborations from Mark Van Hoen, John Fryer (This Mortal Coil, Depeche Mode), Elika, RxGibbs and Remarkably Spry.
Dead Leaf Echo has played Escape to NY Festival and SXSW on bills with Psychedelic Furs, The Wedding Present, Japanther, A Place To Bury Strangers and And Your Will Know Us By the Trail Of the Dead; they also played sold out shows last year opening for the reunited Chapterhouse and Ulrich Schnauss.
Green Fuse Records is set to release a Dead Leaf Echo [Act of Truth] & Slowness [Race To Mars] 7 inch on June 26th. The split 7 inch is the second release to be a part of Green Fuse’s Seven Inch Revolution Box Set, which is definitely something worth looking into, especially if you are a collector of 7 inchs. The band has just finished recording their debut LP, Thought & Language, mixed by John Fryer (4AD, NIN, Lush) and with artwork by Vaughan Oliver (Pixies, Bauhaus). The album is scheduled for release later this year.
