Strangeways Radio Featured Artists
All artists on this page are Strangeways Featured artists.  Each of these artists are proudly displaying the "Featured On Strangways" badge on their website.  These are all artists that the Strangways staff are big fans of, and we recommend that you give them a listen.

Ask For Joy

Aaron Rossetto is the one-man songwriter, performer and producer behind Austin, Texas' Ask For Joy, whose layers of shimmering guitars, angelic vocals and expansive harmonies awash in reverb recall at once the fuzzy shoegaze of Slowdive and My Bloody Valentine, the Phil Spector crossed with post-punk noise and feedback sound of The Jesus and Mary Chain, and the poppy, harmonic sensibilities of the Beach Boys. The music is characterised by a fusion of the rawness of a strongly DIY esthetic with rich, atmospheric waves of instrumentation supporting a textured and dense dream pop sound.

Bella Lune

Bella Lune draws influences from many of darkwave and coldwave's luminaries delivering a record that will appeal to fans of Collide, and Switchblade Symphony. Bella Lune is a fusion of modern electro and post-shoegaze sensibility, interlacing slinky vocals and catchy synth lines, resulting in an engrossing listen that simulates the feeling of flowing through water.

Dreamgaze

'Dreamgaze’ was formed in 2008 by Michael Wooley and Fuchsia Angel of Bella Lune. They met in an internet radio station chatroom, where they realized they had nearly identical taste in music. Within a couple of months, they began recording their debut album ‘Sound Colour’ in two separate studios, hundreds of miles apart. They released "Sound Colour" on Aetheria Music in October of 2009. They released their first music video for 'Wasteland' with the help of Light Pulse Studios in the Spring of 2010.

Foxtail Somersault

The band has a colorful composition style that can be compared to Blonde Redhead. While they’ve been on the college radio scene for a few years, throughout their evolution, the shoegaze band has explored instrumentation that is both cinematic and ambient. They compare with My Bloody Valentine, the Cocteau Twins, and Slowdive. Among the delightful great qualities and influences of Foxtail Somersault that transfix listeners is that same unexplainable feeling you get listening to the peculiar brew chemistry of Blonde Redhead. That feeling emerges out of Foxtail Somersault’s unerringly harmonic melodic landscape and unlimited composition. Not caught in a time capsule when it comes to influences, the band continues to add new contemporary musicians to their sonic library

Hungry Lucy

The duo of War-N Harrison & Christa Belle have been creating music as Hungry Lucy since 1998. Their intoxicating multi-layered trip-pop music and enchanting female vocals are at once unique and accessible. To date, Hungry Lucy have released 5 CDs, a DVD, a digital-only album and appeared on numerous compilation CDs internationally as well as touring the US several times over the past 5 years. The proudly independent duo is now seeking to expose their music through new and interesting channels.
