This article highlights some of the new music that was released the week ending March 08, 2019. This week we feature a wide variety of new releases ranging from singer songwriter to synthwave to post punk. Something for everyone.
Dido
Dido returns with her 5th studio new album titled Still On My Mind recorded with her brother Rollo. While still a singer-songwriter album, this one returns to some synthy and trip hop elements that we all loved with her debut album. The first single is the beautiful Hurricanes. We chose to include this acoustic performance instead of the official video because…well…because she’s so adorable in this intimate performance.
Xeno & Oaklander
This is the second single from the bands 6th studio album Hypnos. Dais Records describes this best as:
a collection of sparkling electronics blurring the lines between 60’s French Pop, 80’s wave and contemporary modular synth pop. Romantic and mythic, a dreamlike journey through dense harmonies and complex polyphonic compositions
Gesaffelstein with Hacker and Electric Youth
Taken off of the 2nd studio album from French DJ Gesaffelstein, who has worked in the past with The Weeknd and Miss Kitten. On this track, they team up with the smooth vocal stylings of Electric Youth. This track has the vibe of a song taken off of the Drive Motion Picture soundtrack but with more of a hard beat to it.
Sambassadeur
Taken off of the bands first album in 7 years, scheduled to be released in April. This track is remixed by Azure Blue and has a similar vibe as the Gesaffelstein track above…sweet female vocals with a heavy synth dance beat.
Foreign Resort
Taken off of the bands forthcoming album, Outnumbered. This is a post punk banger with vocals reminiscent of Robert Smith.
