This is a nice retro trip, and although that is maybe becoming a cliche notion, this is NOT a look back at 80’s Synth. We are talking about the hazy, dreamy world New Wave/Goth vibe of Cocteau Twins, Bel Canto and The Cure. There are also more ethereal vocal vibes reminiscent of Julee Cruise, Tamaryn and Chromatics.
The lyrics to Eudaemonia echo my sentiments.
“I can’t say no to that…can’t say no that…no I can’t say no that.”
It should come as no surprise that San Francisco duo, Kennedy Ashlyn and Cash Askew were brought up on a steady diet of 4AD and Creation records. If this is the sound we get when 21 year olds are exposed to those records, I volunteer to teach a class. We will all benefit from this. You’re welcome.
Their debut LP Remain is out now on Dais Records. This is an LP of the year candidate folks, don’t sleep on it.
