Today the UK indie rock band Editors delivered their second new single this year. Continuing where they left off with No Harm, Marching Orders is a powerful balled that will hopefully be filling large stadiums in a town near you soon. I say “large stadiums” because I feel that it is the progression that this band is taking. In my mind, the band is hitting their stride with U2’s Joshua Tree era of songs which is very high praise. They don’t just write songs – they write anthems.
In the comment area below, let us know what you think of their latest song and what other modern bands, if any, do you feel are destined to grow from cute small venue tours to sold out stadium tours.
Lyrics
I can open my mind
But there’s no makings of a dreamer in you
In these desperate times
I’m walking home
Walking home to you
I will fall with the rain,
I will flicker with the flame, the fire
I used to write down my dreams
Now they’re gone when my eyes open on you
Well even though you’ve fucked up
There’s still the makings of a dreamer in you
I will fall with the rain
I will flicker with the flame
I will fall with the rain
I will flicker with the flame
The fire, the fire
(x2)
These are the marching orders
But these are the rules that we break
These are the doubts we cling to
To ride it get more
To ride it get more, we take
[instrumental break]
(x2)
These are the marching orders
But these are the rules that we break
These are the doubts we cling to
To ride it get more
To ride it get more, we take
